Does it affect me?

ESEF/UKSEF is mandatory for all Main Market listed businesses in Europe and the UK. Consolidated IFRS financial statements require data to be digitally tagged in the xHTML file. However, non-consolidated financial statements do not require the digital tagging aspect, only the xHTML file.

What do I need to do?

For consolidated IFRS financial statements you will require specialist software to apply digital tags from the ESEF/UKSEF taxonomies across the primary statements and notes to the financial statements. This document is converted into xHTML with embedded digital tags, meaning the document is both human and machine readable.

The document must then be filed with the national regulator within the deadline and be kept in the public domain for 10 years.

What's the deadline?

The deadline for publication and submission to the relevant regulator(s) of ESEF/UKSEF reporting is 4 months after the end of a company’s financial year.
